A Hotel Room in Flagstaff
The photographing ended in a hotel room in Flagstaff. I was tired and looking forward to getting back to L.A. I felt I’d gotten the images I wanted. The process of working on the road and meditating on the concept for the project was one of the most rewarding creative experiences of my life. Regardless of how the project is received, it represents a big leap in my thinking about photography and how I’ll approach future projects. Next up will be the edit, which will comprise of three parts.
Petrified
It was too hot but I got out of the car and walked around anyway. I felt the Arizona desert and Petrified Forest was an inevitable destination as this trip reached it’s end. This is the Southwest I find inspiring. Open, ancient and awe inspiring. I felt this when I drove through Utah on my way to L.A. and now I felt it again. Someday I’ll go back….
Into the West
After Santa Fe I was starting to get anxious to get home. But I still knew there were places to see. Once I was inside the barren landscape of Arizona I felt a bit refreshed. It was hot and I was tired and stinking from the road, but I still stopped when I could. The Painted Desert happened to be on my route. I couldn’t resist.
