I’m a photo editor, content strategist and photographer based in New York City.

I’m the co-author of Photographers’ Sketchbooks published by Thames and Hudson in 2014, and the creator of the LPV Show, a podcast about photobooks.

I’ve been the Social Media Editor at Shutterstock Editorial, covering news, sports and entertainment, and the Managing Editor for the Shutterstock Blog and B&H Photo Explora, where I’ve covered the photography, electronics and the creative industry. You can find my work portfolio here and connect with me on LinkedIn.

I’m currently writing a newsletter about walking, photography, New York City and the attention economy. I’m accepting new freelance gigs and can be reached at info@bryanformhals.com

I’ve been making photographs since 2005 when I picked up a camera in Los Angeles to photograph on my walks. Since then my projects have revolved around ritual walking and how nature and the urban environment intermingle. My work has been featured in the New York Times, Wired Magazine, Slate, Lenscratch, Booooooom!, It’s Nice That, The Morning News and more.
